This post is all about how I use HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress and other blogging courses to run my six-figure blog.
In my first year of blogging, I made $210,000 from my online business while working full-time as a lawyer.
All because I invested in some really awesome courses and tools instead of trying to figure out everything on my own and wasting valuable time!
So today, I’m going to share my detailed review of one of those courses called Wicked at WordPress by HerPaperRoute.
If you haven’t started your blog or are in the process of launching any kind of online business then you know you’ll need a solid WordPress website (before you can do anything else).
WordPress is for everyone but there’s a lot to learn and troubleshoot if you are new and don’t know what you are doing!
So let’s get started!
Before Taking HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress Course
Before taking HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress course, I was struggling with some of these things on WordPress and maybe you are too –
- How to create a tripwire page in WordPress?
- What’s an ideal image size so my site loads faster?
- Branding help! – what colors and fonts I should use?
- What free or paid WordPress plugins are a must-have?
- How to add an Instagram gallery feed on my site?
- How to use Gutenberg (the new editor)?
- Setting up my shop using the free WooCommerce
- The best theme for my business?
- How to connect my newsletter form on WordPress?
- How to manage and maintain my WordPress site without having to hire someone all the time?
The list goes on and on! As you can see, there’s a lot to learn when it comes to mastering WordPress.
WordPress can be complicated and a huge time suck if you are completely new to it and don’t know how to use it.
Although I took a course to begin my blogging journey, it still didn’t teach me everything I needed to know about WordPress.
I had to hire people to troubleshoot issues and after wasting countless hours trying to design a professional looking website on my own, I gave up.
I ended up hiring a website designer and paid $3000 to get everything designed for me as I wanted.
But that process literally took 4 months, no kidding!
Clearly, if I had HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress course at that time, I would have saved A LOT of money, time, and stress for sure.
After Taking HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress Course
Let’s talk about how I would have saved MONTHS worth of time, money, and headache if I had enrolled in this course.
Well, first of all, this course answered all my questions above that no other course did. Watch the video below to see what I mean!
Even after getting my website professionally designed, I was clueless about how to set up my shop in WordPress using WooCommerce.
This course has a full lesson on it!
Not only that, but it also provided easy to follow checklists and videos along with tons of awesome recommendations to make my life easy. You no longer have to research anything. It’s all given to you on a silver platter in the course.
I also don’t have to hire anyone to manage my website anymore because now I have all the cool tips and tricks at my disposal.
It taught me how to troubleshoot so many things on my own, and there are tons of advanced WordPress capabilities I learned that I had no idea about!
Now I know how to customize the backend of my WordPress such as my dashboard color scheme, screen options, and what plugins I need and which ones I can get rid of.
For example, your WordPress can look as cool as this (thanks to the course) –
Plus you get lifetime access to the course, so you can go back and get answers to your questions quickly at any time.
What I Loved ABout HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress Course
Chelsea, the creator of HerPaperRoute, has really thought of EVERYTHING you could possibly need help with and has provided you clear easy instructions.
She gives you even a site planning checklist, which I thought was brilliant. I wish I had that from the beginning, and I’m using it now to make further enhancements to my site!
She literally shows you how to structure your website based on the business you are running like what categories you should have, how your navigation menus should display and in what order, your mission, the qualities that best describe your brand, and more!
All these are so important to think about when you are designing your website.
Most people overlook these important factors and then they keep revising and tweaking their website wasting more and more time.
For example, I had no idea how I could share blog posts on autopilot with a simple trick that I learned in this course.
I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for almost two years now and all this time, I had no idea about this one tip. It could have automatically shared my post on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
Who doesn’t love checklists, cheatsheets, and shortcuts? You get both them all in this course!
My Favorite Cheatsheets, Checklists, and Shortcuts from WordPress at Wicked
My favorite cheatsheets, checklists and shortcuts from WordPress at Wicked course are these:
- WordPress Keyboard shortcuts – love those!
- Troubleshooting checklist – there’s a checklist to help you troubleshoot issues quickly!
- Dashboard Color Palette – so you can make your WordPress look pretty! (instead of the boring colors it comes with)
- Web Design Tips – so you don’t have to worry about how to design your site on your own
- Adding new features cheatsheet – you can add anything you want to WordPress!
- WooCommerce Shortcode tricks – these are a must if you are using this plugin to run your online shop
- Ideal Image Size Cheatsheet – so you know exactly what size of images you should have
- Your WordPress Maintenance checklist – this one is very important for making sure your site is running smoothly at all times!
and more!
I love that there are tons of cheat sheets and checklists in the course for you to easily download and quickly grasp the concept. There are many shortcuts and tricks to make things faster and easier for you.
I also loved the “How Do I” questions towards the end of the course, which you can see in my video here.
These are commonly asked questions, and I bet you have asked some of these yourself at one point or the other. Sometimes something as simple as, “how to change your blog name and tagline” can slow you down! This particular question has been asked frequently in my Facebook group.

What I Didn’t Like About HerPaperRoute’s Wicked at WordPress Course
This one is tough for me! I’ll be honest, I usually have suggestions for improvement after going through a course. But I genuinely believe this course is quite comprehensive and covers so many things you don’t think about.
It’s also a perfect combination of video and text-based learning in my opinion.
You watch the videos to learn “how to do things” on WordPress but then there are cheatsheets, shortcuts, and other things that you can easily download for quick references. So for someone like me who loves checklists and cheatsheets and also video, it was a great combination of both.
I also think it’s hard to teach how to do something on WordPress without a video.
But at the same time, I could easily click and find fast answers to my common questions like “how do I create a tripwire page” or “change my blog name” without having to watch a video.
No SEO Training
Lastly, some people asked me if this course will teach them about WordPress SEO.
It’s not an SEO course because SEO stands for search engine optimization but the course itself does provide you all the SEO plugins you need for your WordPress site. HerPaperRoute does offer a separate SEO course you can take for free as well.
But if you need SEO training then check out these two important blog posts:
- SEO Basics: Ultimate Guide to Mastering SEO

Also, here are the best tools and resources I used to learn SEO (now I get as much as traffic from Google as Pinterest):
- This SEO Books Bundle (to learn on-page SEO and get backlinks)
- How to Use Google Search Console to rank on Google
- Best SEO course (deep dive into everything you need to know!)
