Here are 5 blogging tips every blogger should remember in 2020 to get ahead!
It’s no secret that our lives have changed irrevocably, thanks to the Internet.
With the advent of the World Wide Web in the early 1990s rose the weblog — now known as “blog” — and with it, an entirely new ecosystem of information and content.
Even with all the changes that have come into our lives with advances in technology and the social media boom, blogging remains as popular as ever.
In fact, according to Statista there are over 31 million bloggers in the United States alone, and over 600 million worldwide.
Blogging is woven into the very fabric of our Internet DNA, and it’s definitely here to stay.
How much money can you make as a blogger?
Sky is the limit! Here are some of my blog income reports to give you an idea (definitely check them out to learn how you can make money blogging):
- How I Made $20,000 a month Blogging in my First Year (with my full-time job as a lawyer)
- How I Made $35,000 a month Blogging
- How I Made $44,000 a month Blogging
and last month, I made $60,000!
These bloggers are making more than $100,000 a month!
But blogging isn’t always easy and requires just as much time and effort as any other business.
As we get settled into a new decade of what will hopefully be more content and creation, here are 5 essential blogging tips every blogger should keep in mind.
Blogging Tip 1: Set Your Goals
The first thing every blogger needs to do if they want their blog to grow is to set goals.
Not just set goals but also learn how to achieve them. This post will help!
Sure, blogging is a hobby and a passion for many of us, but there’s no reason why you can’t earn from your hobbies.
Figuring out where you want your blog to be in six months or a year or longer is a great foundation for mapping out content and marketing strategies.
Figuring this all out can be pretty tough if you don’t have the experience, so there’s no harm in asking for help along the way.
CodeinWP has put together a guide to setting effective blog goals, as well as simple strategies for how to reach them.
This guide includes outlining your motivations for starting a blog, using the SMART framework for blogging, and much more.
When it comes to dreaming big, there’s no better time to start than today.
Blogging Tip 2: Increase Engagement and Interaction
Better engagement is always the end goal of any blog, but getting there can take a lot of planning and elbow grease.
Interactions are the marker of success in the online sphere— for one because more clicks mean more ad revenue, but also because it just means that your readers are interested and engaged.
But in a world where people are bombarded on all sides by new information and visuals, how can you get your blog to stand out amongst the crowd?
One way to do this is by “forcing” your readers to interact by creating opportunities for interaction in your posts.
You can start with something as simple as asking a question that they can answer in the comments, or be more elaborate with raffles, contests, and more.
You can also use interactive media like quizzes or videos, which according to GO-Gulf is 88% effective in differentiating your brand from others.
If standing out is your goal, then interactive is the way to go.
Also, if you are thinking of running giveaways to increase engagement and bring more traffic to your website then read this post, which is all about giveaways and sweepstakes.
Blogging Tip 3: Keep Yourself Updated
We live in an unprecedented era where science and the Internet have become inseparable parts of our daily lives.
Things are constantly in flux, with new trends, new information, and new technology surfacing on a daily basis.
Just like our lives have changed to adapt to this new era, so too has marketing. Digital marketing and blogging are now essential tools for the new era, and these tools need mastering.
Because trends in digital marketing change so quickly, it’s important for the success and longevity of your blog that you keep yourself updated and informed.
Successful bloggers are only successful because they understand the ins and outs of digital marketing and blogging and can create content accordingly.
If you’re new to all this or need a refresher, a guide by Triadex Services on essential digital marketing terms will help get you up to speed in no time.

Blogging Tip 4: Share Your Knowledge
Probably one of the fastest ways to grow your audience and increase your engagement is by sharing your knowledge. In the modern era where content is king, it’s safe to say that teaching has become the new marketing.
Sharing your skills online has never been easier, with opportunities available through free video editing software, YouTube vlogs, and even Zoom meetings.
But why is teaching such a great way to boost your blog stats?
Ryan Fan states on Medium that it’s because teaching and marketing are linked — they’re both similar because they both require passion for the product (whether the product is teaching or your blog), and a willingness to learn and grow.
The more you learn from teaching, the more you learn about marketing.
And the more your students learn from you, the more they’ll share your blog with others. Win-win!

Blogging Tip 5: Make Use of New Tools
Finally, one thing that’s essential for bloggers in 2020 is the ability to adapt to change.
As I mentioned above, the digital landscape changes quickly, so it’s important to keep on top of trends and new technologies.
As competition increases, you will need new tools and WordPress plugins like this to speed up your website. Otherwise, you will lose traffic if you have a slow website.
Some of my favorite blogging tools I can’t live without include:
- My all in one business platform
- My beautiful theme
- Canva Pro
- This WordPress plugin
Another thing you need to make use of is a video!
Within a few short years, video has become one of the top marketing techniques, with some experts estimating an almost 90% ROI.
Customers are paying attention to video, so it’s important that you’re making the most of it.
Many bloggers might feel intimidated by transitioning from text content to vlogging, but it’s not actually that difficult.
To help you out, I have put together a post on ‘3 Big Reasons Why You Should Start a Video Blog (Vlog)’.
Vlogging is one way to keep your customers hooked and entertained, while also increasing your traffic and reach.
